BIO
Shelli has been fascinated by art since grade school when her family took a trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. Standing in front of Seurat’s Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, she was mesmerized by all the dots of color. Shelli started taking various art classes in Junior high school including pottery, lost wax cast jewelry and cake decorating. Her love of painting did not start until the death of her sister in 2008. She started painting as therapy to bring joy back in her life.
Shelli paints primarily in watercolor on Yupo, soft pastel on sanded paper, acrylic and has started exploring the world of water soluble oils. Her work is inspired by her love of travel and seeks to document her personal experiences and emotions and to share with others the beauty and diversity of the world.
Shelli was selected for one of the Special Merit Awards featured in the Light Space & Time’s 6th Annual “Nature” Online Art Competition (2016). In 2018, she was selected to exhibit her work in the Pima County Joel D. Valdez Main Library, Tucson, AZ and in 2019 at the Pima County Kirk-Bear Canyon Library, Tucson, AZ.
Shelli was born and raised in Oregon and presently lives in Oceanside, CA.
